Center for Lupus Care, Inc. (CLC) is hosting a three
hour (Free) work-shop on, How to Qualify for Disability on October 23, 2004 from
10:00AM to 2:00PM at The First Presbyterian Church of Inglewood in Waddingham
Hall. Barbara Case from Compassion in Action, Inc., will facilitate the work
shop where precise language, action words, precise times as well as other
techniques that the disability office needs to process and award disability
compensation.
During the past ten years many lupus patients who
attend the 4th Friday support group meetings have lost their jobs and many filed
for disability. This seems to be the course of action for most and it becomes a
long and devastating process. No matter what you are told, most women and men
would rather work and care for themselves and family than to depend on SSI or
other forms of disability. But what do you do when you can't get out of bed and
you have no other means of support? Many women and men who suffer with lupus are
the product of very productive jobs at some of the largest corporations around
with salaries beyond $50,000.00 per year and great medical insurance. So, why
would these people give up those kinds of jobs and loose their medical insurance
for disability?
At the Center for Lupus Care (CLC) we have surveyed many lupus patients and
found that all who file are rejected at least two times and in some situations
more. This process takes years unless some miracle takes place. And while the
process is in motion lupus patients, who have lost their jobs and insurance,
have a difficult time getting the proper medical care, they become stressed and
stress causes the disease to flare (get worse) and they can't afford to pay for
the many prescriptions that are necessary to live and they become hopeless and
helpless.
. Many lupus patients die each year and many live in
a depressed state. Something must be done for lupus patients. The workshop is
open to all lupus patients and any one else who need to know how to qualify for
disability. The workshop as well as lunch is free. You must RSVP to (310)
